No último dia 17 de maio (Dia Internacional de Combate a LGBTFOBIA), aconteceu o lançamento da Associação Amigos da Diversidade, realizado no Gandini Hotel, com a presença de autoridades regionais e estaduais, imprensa e convidados.
A cerimônia foi comandada pelo Presidente Felipe Cavalheiro e contou com a palavra do Prefeito Guilherme Gazzola, da Coordenadora Estadual de Políticas Públicas para Diversidade Sexual, Valéria Morine Nagy, além de alguns membros da diretoria da associação.
Durante o evento, a Cartilha da Diversidade e Cidadania foi distribuída para todos os convidados. A noite ainda contou com a apresentação da equipe de diretoria e das 15 coordenações que irão trabalhar de forma voluntária em prol de pautas de extrema importância para a Diversidade da nossa sociedade, são elas:

Assim, foi declarada oficialmente a fundação da Associação Amigos da Diversidade, que irá trazer um novo formato de instituição voltada à criação e promoção de políticas públicas, além de ações afirmativas para a diversidade cultural, étnica, religiosa e sexual do interior paulista.

A associação já tem um histórico muito importante para Itu e região
Ela começou com o antigo CODISEI, o Coletivo da Diversidade Sexual de Itu, fundado em 17 de maio de 2018. O antigo CODISEI teve sua atuação muito presente por ações voltadas à diversidade de Itu e região como: palestras informativas, debates temáticos, a organização da Semana e da Festa da Diversidade e a Parada do Orgulho. Além disso, de se tornar vencedor por três anos consecutivos no edital “Mais Orgulho”, voltado à valorização e promoção de conteúdo cultural para diversidade no interior paulista e cidades litorâneas do Estado de São Paulo.
